Okay, probably not. But I do apologize for the dearth of information on this page, and hereby make a solemn and completely non-binding vow to add more soon.

WHO: Margaret Milne. Here's a decent photo - a little old, and I generally wear glasses, but you get the idea...

WHAT: MSc student. Having survived the rigours of the first course-filled year, I've now got two major projects on the go:

• First (and of course, foremost): The thesis. I'm working with images of the Coma Cluster of galaxies . The data was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and originally used to look at the globular cluster system of elliptical galaxies. Of course, the pictures have other things in them besides elliptical galaxies and globular clusters - for example, there are lots and lots of dwarf galaxies in these pictures of Coma. My job is to find these dwarfs and then study things like their luminosity function, morphology and spatial distribution. My supervisor for this project is Dr. Chris Pritchet

• Second (and just for fun): Making myself employable! When I did my BSc at the University of Waterloo, I also did a BEd at Queens. Through that degree, I learned two things about myself: first, I really like teaching; and second, I really don't like teaching high school! So, when I'm finished here, I want to get a job in science promotion and education - working at a museum, or science centre, or planetarium, or magazine, or television station, or whatever.   • writing for UVic Communications as part of the SPARK program
  • designing and maintaining the webpage for the Canada France Hawaii Legacy Survey
