Astronomical Objects

In 1995, while I was in Calgary, a group of us managed to take some slides of the nucleus of Comet Hyakatake using an 8" celestron mounted on a 1.8 m telescope which we used for guiding. The larger telescope allowed us to guide on the comet. The photos of Hale-Bopp were taken on or near perihelion (1997) from the Niagra Escarpment near Hamilton, ON. Luckily, I was also traveling to Hawaii on an observing run in early May, so was able to get some last photos of the comet before it disappeared to the Southern Hemisphere.
